Divorce Financial Planning

Whether the dissolution of the marriage is your choice, or not, you have some very difficult financial decisions confronting you. The emotional distress resulting from the dissolution of the marriage can often interfere with making objective and sound financial decisions.

Women(purchased)Today, the words “divorce” or “financial security” often invoke feelings of fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. Divorces can be expensive, not only in terms of the emotional and financial expense during the divorce process, but also after the divorce is finalized and the parties are faced with new financial realities.

Over the years, our practice has evolved with the unique specialty of financial planning for women. Although women are concerned about their financial well-being and that of their families, “financial security” issues too often take a back seat though life’s journey.

Financial matters are critically important when a life changing event such as divorce occurs. As Certified Divorce Financial Analysts, we have helped guide hundreds of women in Central Texas through the often complex, intimidating and emotional divorce process.

For most women, a divorce is the biggest financial transaction of their life and the decisions made during this tenuous time will impact them, and their families, for the rest of their lives.

Unfortunately, too many women attempt the divorce process without the assistance of a financial expert (especially one that understands the intricacies of divorce)! Or, they simply assume that their attorney will guide and advise them on all financial matters (big mistake!). While attorneys play a crucial role in the process of divorce, they usually are not trained in the intricate financial details that concern tax issues, IRS rulings, real property issues, dividing pensions, etc.

We provide the financial expertise and guidance necessary to help you, and your attorney, understand these financial issues by completing a detailed inventory and analysis of the situation, developing creative settlement solutions AND helping women understand their options and what their divorce settlement means to them and their financial security.

What about after the divorce?  Once the dust settles, a new chapter of life begins. Unfortunately, far too many women neglect to address the financial matters of this “new chapter”. Even though they may long to “move on” with their lives, fear and anxiety are never far behind if financial matters are left unattended. We help women begin that new chapter by educating and empowering women on their journey towards financial security and independence.

We are here to help!
